Welcome. My name is Michael Lassell. I'm a writer and editor with specialities in theater, architecture, and design. I also write fiction, nonfiction, and poetry, and have published 19 books as an author and editor (some of them quite little books, some with many pictures).

Some of my work appears in high school and college textbooks, which means that from time to time I receive e-mails from students who have been given me as an assignment. Which I find curious. I am homework. I do have a Wikipedia entry, but many students are forbidden to use it as a source. So here is the information that they need.

I'm also hoping to use the site to keep friends and interested others up on my work news, and to make a bit of a public record about my so-called career. I've been wanting to do this for years, and my relative leisure at this point gives me the time to get something up and running.

When I was working at Metropolitan Home, I began a blog called "I on Design" for the company website (now elledecor.com). The posts I did are still available there. I've been missing doing it, so I'll be starting a new blog soon (fingers crossed).

In the interests of full disclosure (and in the tradition of web site portraits), the picture of me is very, very old. It was taken on a rooftop in San Francisco by my friend and fellow writer, Gavin Geoffrey Dillard. Mahalo, amigo!
